Compliance and boundaries

Professional boundaries for DSA/NMH and private specialist mentoring

A clear boundary page for universities, needs assessors, students, and supporters. It explains what specialist mentoring support is, what it is not, and how professional assurance is handled.

Scope

What the service does and does not provide

The service keeps DSA/NMH and private mentoring separate from therapy, tutoring, assignment work, and crisis response.

DSA/NMH and private support

Fly High Mentoring is a DSA/NMH supplier and also offers private, remote mentoring at £30 per hour. Private sessions are invoiced after completed work.

Specialist mentoring role

Specialist mentoring is human support intended to help students access higher education by identifying learning barriers and developing practical strategies.

Boundaries of support

The service is not counselling, therapy, diagnosis, crisis support, subject tutoring, assignment writing, or a substitute for university adjustments.

Professional registration and insurance

Fly High Mentoring is led by Felicity Jayne Turner, who is registered with the HCPC as a Music Therapist. That separate professional credential sits alongside a fully insured, non-medical mentoring practice.

Confidentiality and consent

Information should be handled confidentially, with consent-led communication and clear limits where risk, safeguarding, or legal duties apply.

Records and review

Session records, attendance, cancellations, goals, reviews, complaints, and safeguarding actions should be kept clearly and proportionately.

Professional assurance

HCPC registration
Felicity Jayne Turner is registered with the HCPC as a Music Therapist (registration number AS019165) from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2028. This is her separate professional registration; Fly High Mentoring provides non-medical mentoring, not music therapy.
Professional memberships
Felicity maintains HCPC registration, supervision, CPD, and practice standards relevant to her role.
Insurance
Fly High Mentoring operates as a fully insured mentoring practice, including appropriate professional indemnity and public liability cover.
Safeguarding lead
Felicity Jayne Turner is the safeguarding lead and point of contact for risk, welfare, and safeguarding concerns.
Conflicts of interest
Referral, funding, and professional relationships are considered so support remains transparent and student-centred.
Complaints process
Concerns are logged, reviewed fairly, and used to identify service improvements or safeguarding actions where needed.
Data protection
Personal information is handled confidentially and proportionately, with secure records and clear privacy rights.
